Haugh II) Organization: River Parishes Programming, Dallas TX Lines: 137 I hadn't been subscribing to comp.sources.wanted for a while and was surprized to find the list of goodies that I did. Comp.archives is a newsgroup which lists archive sites. So far as I know, most of what was requested here recently is available by anonymous FTP from an Internet site, or anonymous UUCP from a UUCP site. Here is the L.sys line for accessing this system: rpp386 Any ACU 2400 12142506272 in:--in:--in: uucp A complete list of available files is in the file rpp386!/usr/archive/archive. An abridged version is below: -- This is the short listing for the archive on rpp386. A longer listing can be found in back issues of this newsgroup, or by anonymous UUCP from rpp386 from the file /usr/spool/uucppublic/archive. - John. A new map entry will be published as soon as the system returns to the air. A replacement map will be issued shortly to reflect all of the connections being severed. Effective May 1st anonymous UUCP traffic will be disallowed. All anonymous polls should be discontinued and all anonymous logins removed. Anonymous connections are the ones using either 'anonuucp' or 'uucp' as the login name. If you wish to continue polling after the machine has been moved, please contact me prior to May 5th. The machine will not allow anonymous traffic for some period of time after the new location has been set up, so if you wish to continue to access the archives you will have to set up a regular connection. Announcments will be made in this newsgroup as soon as archive service has resumed. Effective May 5th all UUCP traffic outside of the Dallas area will be turned off. If you are located outside of the Dallas/Fort Worth area and you wish to continue polling this system, please contact me prior to May 5th. The system will continue to accept UUCP traffic through whatever systems remain connected until I through the system in the car and hit the road. If you absolutely must reach me between 5/5 and 5/8 or so, I suggest you try cs.utexas.edu!bigtex!rpp386!jfh. Not a pretty path, but it should work. This is the only path which I know will be working for the first few days. -- John F. I just posted information on accessing the archives in comp.sources.wanted, you may want to look there for more information. -- [ /usr/spool/uucppublic/archive ] [ Last Modified Sat Aug 19 19:06:30 CDT 1989 ] Welcome to my archive ... This is a archive of USENET sources I've been able to get running on SCO Xenix(tm). If you aren't running Xenix, you may still be in luck since things seem to work fine if they work on Xenix. However, please note that I am not in any way associated with either Microsoft or The Santa Cruz Operation. Files are stored in /usr/archive, one package per directory, as compressed(1)'d sharchives. Be _very_ careful to get the full path-name. Many people forget the package subdirectory. For example, it is /usr/archive/moria/moria-1.Z. Do not use wild cards. YOU MUST NAME THE COMPLETE PATH YOURSELF!!!! DO NOT FORGET THE /usr/archive/ SUBDIRECTORY OR YOUR REQUEST WILL FAIL!!! For best results, pick up the script /usr/spool/uucppublic/snatch which can be used to setup requests by package name. In addition, the UUCP Maps are available in /usr/spool/maps/ in uncompressed format. Some of the archives have been repacked, others have been hacked on. I do not use the standard archive names because I don't keep all of the different versions and patches. Also, certain programs are known to only run on an Intel 80386 running SCO Xenix. They are listed after the more portable programs. - John.
