For those of us who don't know how big of a deal is this? Assuming I have a legal copy of SCO can I just copy over the libraries to a subdirectory on my Linux system? Do I have to have a SCO system up and running on the net and have the libraries exported to the Linux system? Is there a lot of complicated linking involved to point to the IBSC libraries on the Linux system? Inquiring minds want to know!! r...@bwco.com

Get the iBCS emulator from tsx-11.mit.edu /pub/linux/ALPHA/ibcs2, install SCO, SVR4, SVR3, ISC, Wyse V etc. applications just as you would expect - then run them. It's a *long* time since anyone reported a bug with the emulator (although I *know* there is some esoteric junk still unimplemented). If it wasn't having to repsond to the alpha kernel changes it would probably be beta by now. Mike

It won't run LPI-RPGII The first guy will buy you a re-boot. The second just vomits The Third hangs the keyboard. Lessee, That about covers all the things I need.. :) I think I'll wait for the BETA. BTW I tried both the supplied libc_s and sco's libc_s... Wish I had time to help the iBCS folks, Maybe when it is a little closer. It did run several test programs I compiled, but it doesn't work with my SCO ASCII window library (Which ported with a 'make' onto 'native' linux). Comparing iBCS to Say Linux 0.2, I'd say it shouldn't be too long before there are some decent binary compatabilities out there. -- Keith Smith aka Digital Designs ke...@ksmith.com 5719 Archer Rd. The documentation for iBCS explains how to go about doing basic 10 second fault finding using by enabling tracing. With no details as to what version you are running against what kernel version and no trace output to indicate what is happening there is absolutely *nothing* that can be done. The BETA (when it comes) will most likely work no better for you. <shrug> Mike
