They are on ma2s2.mathematik.uni-karlsruhe.de [129.13.115.2] in directory /pub/linux/sysvfs/ , for 0.99.10, 0.99.11, 0.99.12 separately. I have been able to test SysV and Coherent FS on floppy disks, and Coherent FS has been reported to work on hard disk partitions. Before these patches can be included into the standard kernel, they need some testing, however. Please test it and report your success (or failure) to me. Does it work? Does it produce kernel printk() warnings? Does the other OS's fsck complain about what my code did to your disk? ** USE AT YOUR OWN RISK - IT'S STILL ALPHA ** ** MOUNT READ-ONLY THE FIRST TIME ** Bruno Haible hai...@ma2s2.mathematik.uni-karlsruhe.de

It grew out of separate filesystem implementations Xenix FS Doug Evans <d...@cygnus.com> June 1992 SystemV FS Paul B. Monday <pmon...@eecs.wsu.edu> March-June 1993 Coherent FS Pascal Haible <hai...@izfm.uni-stuttgart.de> and B. Haible <hai...@ma2s2.mathematik.uni-karlsruhe.de> June 1993 and was merged together in July 1993. Version 5 has been uploaded to ma2s2.mathematik.uni-karlsruhe.de /pub/linux/sysvfs/ sunsite.unc.edu /pub/Linux/Incoming/ soon /pub/Linux/system/Filesystems/sysv/ There is a separate set of kernel patches for each Linux kernel from 0.99.10 to 0.99.14. It implements all kinds of System V like filesystems I know of (but not UFS). If you are running a System V or Coherent or Xenix, this should make it easier for you to move to Linux. mkfs.sysv and fsck.sysv are not provided. The hard disk partitioning scheme of Xenix requires separate patches. *** Use at your own risk. *** *** Backup your disk before using it for the first time. *** *** Mount read-only the first time. *** Bruno Haible <hai...@ma2s2.mathematik.uni-karlsruhe.de> -- Mail submissions for comp.os.linux.announce to: linux-annou...@tc.cornell.edu PLEASE remember Keywords: and a short description of the software.
