Newsgroups: comp.os.linux From: ae007@yfn.ysu.edu (Daniel Newcombe) Subject: Xconfig : Keyword Expected error Nntp-Posting-Host: yfn Organization: Youngstown State University/Youngstown Free-Net Date: Sat, 13 Jun 1992 21:33:39 GMT Well, I uncommented the two lines for the fonts in the Xconfig and it stopped giving me the error. In fact it just stopped. I have poured over the FAQ list and the solution for this prob. is not in there. After trapping the output from running startx 2>t.t it tells me that for line 24 in Xconfig a keyword is expected. SO I looked at the file and it was a blank line so I commented it out and tried again. This time same error on line 29. The line was Keyboard, so I commented it out and try try again. Error on line 30 - autorepeat, so I gave up and here I am. Actually I am beginning to wonder if X11 really works or not. It seems to fight any attempt to get it running. Could someone that has it running give me a hand, as the get-an-error-and-hope-it- is-covered-in-the-FAQ method is not working. Thanks, -Dan

I don't remember having this much trouble with it at work. Anyway, I don't even get as far as Dan. I still get the KD_SETMODE error - I've uncommented the font path line, it's set correctly, I've been through all the FAQs and INSTALLs and READMEs and on and on... I just can't see what I'm missing. But I've wasted far too much time stabbing in the dark already. If anyone has had this sort of ridiculous trouble, I'd like to hear from you and what you did to get it working... Dazed and confused, Jim. --

He kid, what about stop bitching and sending in *real* bug reports ? I didn't see you Xconfig file in full lenght, nor an exact description of your hardware. Are you sure that everybody knows what you're Xconfig states on line 27 ? > Dazed and confused, So are we ;-) - Thomas -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Das Reh springt hoch, e-mail: roell@sgcs.com das Reg sprint weit, #include < /dev/pizza> was solles tun, es hat ja Zeit ...
