Asia's Largest Linux Company Bundles Corel's WordPerfect for Linux

OAKLAND, Calif.-January 26, 1999- Pacific HiTech, the leader in high performance Linux, today announced availability in the United States of its flagship Linux product, TurboLinux 3.0, which includes Corel WordPerfect for Linux. When TurboLinux 3.0 was introduced in Asia in December, it outsold Microsoft Corp's Windows NT (2000) at Japanese retail point of sale outlets, according to the high technology analyst firm Computer News.

In 1998, Pacific HiTech shipped more than one million units of TurboLinux. With offices in the United States, Japan and China, Pacific HiTech has quickly become the world's second-largest Linux company.

According to International Data Corporation, Linux is already the fastest-growing server operating system, ahead of Microsoft Corp.'s Windows NT (2000) Server and Novell Inc.'s NetWare.

IDC estimates that Linux's market share surged 212% in 1998, giving it 17% of the server market, compared with 36% for Microsoft and 24% for Novell. TurboLinux 3.0 will bundle more than 700 applications, including Corel WordPerfect for Linux, Netscape Communicator 4.5, Apache, Samba 2.0 and the TurboDesk graphical user interface.

Priced at $49.95 retail, TurboLinux is available immediately through distributors Frank Kasper and Associates, Linux Mall and Walnut Creek CDROM. It can also be downloaded from the Internet at http://www.turbolinux.com/orders/index.html. Pacific HiTech will support TurboLinux through a team of staff engineers at its U.S. headquarters in Oakland.
