I'll just chip in a bit for RedHat: I actually have that installed on my
university machine. It seems a valid distribution, and I like their
packaging stuff, and it works fine for me (although I obviously don't
really need any technical support, heh).

RedHat is a bit different for people used to Slackware (and the jungle
of config files may be a bit confusing), and I can't really say that
either of them is superior to the other. But as far as I can tell
RedHat seems dependable.

[ This posting was brought to you just because I reacted to the very
negative postings, and I much prefer to see happy posts. If nobody
else will do them, I have to write them myself ;-]
