I notice the documentation for GDK is rather skimpy. I would gladly write
such documentation, but how do I submit it? Upload it as a patch? Is
anyone else working on GDK documentation? I could probably have a few
sections ready right away, as soon as I know how I should submit it and
that I'm not duplicating somebody else's work.

I am new in the X Tools and GUI programming. This tells you
everything. Few days ago I did stumble on
GTK home page. I Have to admit that I am very impressed
with the work you guys already did it.

I am trying to learn about GTK as much as I can from
"online" tutorials and manuals. Reading from the screen is not
very convenient.

Is there any documentation in postscript format ???

The only thing I did find in "ps" format was GTK FAQ.

Sincerely

Igor

On the main http://www.gtk.org homepage there is a section that lists GTK
documentation, including the GTK+ Tutorial, GTK+ FAQ and various reference
guides (though the reference guides are pretty hollow I think... lots of room
to fill in). Below that list there are two links to 'all the above in
.tar.gz format' one link is for HTML, the other is for Postscript. The only
complaint I had about the postcript, was it didn't include the figures (there
were only a few). Instead, a line or two of HTML looking gobbledy-gook was
printed.

After some discussions with Owen and M.Stekelenburg, we've come up
with an approach to handling threads with gtk. Apparently Owen
implemented it and it's in the latest CVS snapshot, but I haven't had
time to check it out yet.

It does *not* mean that gtk will be thread safe with no extra code,
but it does mean that it should now be possible to right thread safe
programs that call gtk from multiple threads.
